The Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards was established in 1997 to offer South African producers the opportunity of having their wines adjudicated locally by a highly experienced and respected panel of professionals from around the globe.
We partnered with the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards to create dynamic animations and motion graphics for their annual awards — delivering captivating event visuals, award ceremony sequences, branded social media content, and promotional reels that celebrate the prestige and heritage of this iconic event.

For the 2022 awards ceremony, I collaborated closely with the client’s in-house graphic designer, adapting their existing design assets to produce polished medal reveal animations — including a signature “sparkling bubbles” effect that added an elegant, celebratory feel to each award announcement.

As part of the competition process, all entrants were required to submit professional packshots of their products upon entry. I leveraged this imagery to craft individually tailored animated banners for each winner, transforming their product visuals into polished, branded animations that could be used across digital platforms to showcase their achievement.

For the 2024 awards, the creative direction shifted towards a refined, contemporary aesthetic — embracing a clean, understated look and feel with minimal graphic elements. I translated this vision into motion, crafting animations that relied on subtle transitions and the purposeful use of negative space to convey sophistication and elegance befitting the event's calibre.

As an extension of the digital deliverables, I was tasked with producing 3D-rendered trophy animations to be presented to individual product winners. Each trophy was meticulously modelled and rendered to closely replicate the physical award, ensuring that the digital presentation carried the same weight and prestige as the tangible accolade received on the night.
